Who We Are

Ferguson Travel Co. was founded on a single conviction: that the best travel experiences come from deep local knowledge, genuine community relationships, and the willingness to go where the road gets quiet.

It started with Manzanillo — a village at the end of a road on Costa Rica's southern Caribbean coast, tucked against a wildlife refuge where the jungle meets the sea. A place discovered on a solo journey, and never quite left behind. What began as a personal obsession became a travel company built around one question: how do you design a trip that changes someone, without taking anything from the place?

We specialize in the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica and Panama — a region that combines reef, rainforest, indigenous culture, and Afro-Caribbean heritage in a way found nowhere else in the Americas. Our guides grew up here. Our lodges are locally owned. Our cultural experiences are designed with and for the communities that offer them.

Every package we sell is one we've done ourselves, vetted ourselves, and would send our closest friends on. We don't list anything we haven't personally walked, paddled, or eaten our way through.

We believe sustainable travel means more than carbon offsets — it means the people who live where you're visiting are genuinely better off because you came. We pay guides above market rates. We stay in locally owned accommodation. We contribute a portion of every cultural package directly to the communities involved.
